Gath slowly took in a breath and let it out in a very controlled manner while looking up and appearing very contemplative before musing, "Star Fleet is typically quite specific in all matters. It would be unusual for them to presume anything so important and basic as whether we should or should not continue a line of scientific inquiry.  In fact, any additional information we can offer them when they reach us can only be beneficial. We also need to know how best to transfer the pods in a controlled manner. What we previously accomplished was under very risky emergency conditions that could have resulted in casualties to their crew and ours. It is my responsibility to assess and reduce such risk on this ship and to protect the lives of Federation personnel. Duty requires me to do no less."

Gath looked to his fellow officers expectantly, his implied sentiment silently echoing much the same sort of message Powl had suggested.
