"Lieutenant Ra'an, while I know warp theory is certainly in your course of study along with many other subjects. Is it possible that the extra draw on the Zephyr to maintain the power connection would possibly affect our ability to maintain a steady warp bubble? It is possible there was residual damage to the Zephyr as a result of the explosion on the Broken Arrow, and during the time in which the crew attempted to breach the Broken Arrow hull?
Torok directed a question at Amila, "Would you recommend that we slow our warp speed to Warp 1 to adequately address the issue to avoid risk to the Zephyr given that she is an aged vessel? I understand your course of study is Science and not Engineering, but spatial anomalies make you uniquely qualified to answer this query as the subject expert aboard."
Amila listened to Torok carefully, slightly confused at first, then more surprised than confused once she understood that he meant to exagerrate their concerns in order to justify delaying an arrival - buying time. It wasn't something that she expected from a Vulcan, but even as she had that thought, she corrected herself. There were obviously still some prejudices that she needed to work through. She briefly chastised herself, A department head should really be more open-minded.
Once Gath had weighed in with his positions that it ws his position that Starfleet wouldn't want them to halt their study, she finally responded to Torok.
"If we are to continue continue our work, then conserving resources would be a good idea," Amila agreed cautiously. "Especially since the next step seems to be waking one of the people up."
"It's very strange, but the stasis pods are connected in a series circuit of sorts, and keeping power to them has been an ongoing struggle since their systems aren't compatible with ours," she added. "Dr. O'Fee and the engineering department has been concerned that disconnecting one will have a cascading effect. If we were to accidentally wake up all of them because of a power glitch." Amila shruged and looked to the security chief. "Well, the Chief has already explained to us the potential risks."
"I'll go make sure we get what we need to attempt to get this data module open," Amila added. "Unless you hear differently from the Captain, I'll be in the lab with Ensign A'kilees."
