== Midshipman A’kilees Peleus Personal Log ==
It has been a few months since my arrival upon the USS Zephyr and I have transitioned well integrating myself with the crew. Though I find myself the only saurian on board I have been welcomed with open arms by the bridge crew and other crew members who I’ve met in Engineering and in all other departments. Still hoping to acquaint myself with more members and make a few friends while serving my term aboard. During my time on active duty here I have been familiarizing myself extensively with the Zephyr’s systems and come to the conclusion that despite it’s age and temperament, the Zephyr displays the ability and comportment expected of a Starfleet vessel.
Recently the USS Zephyr had been assigned to perform a number of surveys in uncharted space and we came across a derelict vessel named “The Broken Arrow”, originating from a now extinct pre-warp civilization located on Icarus III. Initial cans indicated that the vessel was no longer operational but life support systems, keeping a dozen members of the crew cryogenically frozen during transport, were still functioning. In light of discovering that they were the last remaining members of their species, it was the decision of the crew to attempt to rescue the last of the crew of the Broken Arrow using a plan that I had put forward involving a space walk then transporting the occupants out. I had also put myself forth as a volunteer as a member of the away team to retrieve them to which Commander Ameen agreed to. I must admit that I had some reservations to the plan prior to it being accepted and upon realization of the plan of action I experienced some anxieties before leaving to attempt the space walk but soon was able to collect myself before departing. The mission plan experienced some problems; the structure of the vessel reacted violently to the heat of the phasers causing the vessel to fracture further and some of the cryopods were losing power and were in critical condition. Fortunately, the away team and I were able to breach the hull while the ship’s crew were able to hold the ship together using the Zephyr’s tractor beam and we were able to give the pods a momentary charge before transporting them into Sickbay to which I tied directly into the ship's EPS power conduit. Despite the risks I received praise from both the Chief of Security and the Commander for my actions during the mission. I hope that I can continue to work hard towards furthering my positional responsibilities and live up to the bridge crew’s expectations of me.
I will submit a formal mission log in due time but currently involved in multiple tasks around the ship as ordered by the bridge crew all around the ship. After that I'm sure I'll be assigned to complete any small repairs that are required after the mission, hopefully then I will take some time to unwind from the stress. I’m considering inviting members of the crew to a celebratory drink for a mission well done. I’m sure that if I reach out to various crew members that they would be happy to join me. I should ask the bar to perhaps stock up on some more real alcoholic options the next time we dock. Maybe they would allow me to tend bar in the future? I figure it wouldn't hurt to ask if it’s a special occasion.
In the meantime, I’m mulling over what else to do in my downtime here on the Zephyr. Although there is plenty of work to be accomplished during a regular cycle I have gotten into a rhythm with the ship’s schedule and considering how I should spend my free time. Firstly, I’ve been thinking about acquiring a new model to assemble. I haven't assembled one since I put together that Phoenix Class Corvette before I graduated from the Academy and have been meaning to start another. Secondly, I’ve been developing a new holodeck program and hoping to try out soon. I plan to reserve some time to test it out and check for any lingering errors. Third, I still need to compose a message to H’ektorr. It feels like I haven’t heard from him in forever and I’d like to hear about his recent developments back home on Sauria. I'm sure that he's been just as busy as I have albiet lacking in dangerous away missions. Lastly, I feel I should get back to working on my schematics for my starship concept. It’s been a considerable while since I’ve sat down and put some work into it but since my last schematics went missing at the Academy I have experienced a lack of motivation to repeat the process all over again. Still no word from the administration about their results of the investigation but I hope that they will recover the lost data and reveal who the perpetrator was soon.
