Art finally walked into Security, looking somehow both tired and refreshed. She nodded approvingly at the main screen, which was displaying precisely what she wanted it to display: everything else that was happening on the ship. She was grateful that her team followed her precise directions, and that no other department yet had brought up the fact that Security was technically “spying” on them. The only way to get information around here was to monitor everything. She’d deal with the extra paperwork that came along with it. She would not be caught unawares. Again.
“Wright,” Artie said sharply, in order to get the Ensign’s attention. “How’s everything going?”
She nodded to the NCO manning the helm of her secret-police-type operation, and the woman moved aside to let Art take over. While she listened to Wright, she brought up status reports on every other department, displaying them in slightly smaller sections next to and around the feed from the Bridge. She glared at the board out of the corner of her eye; she started typing and sent messages to all the other departments, even as she stood and continued listening to the Ensign’s report on everything.
“Did you already request more on this?” She paused and asked Guerrero. The NCO nodded. Art loaded the information onto a PADD, adding, “Tell me when that comes in – I have about a dozen questions.”
