Jez loved Andrea like a sister, but had to shake her head. Yes, she had known Mike all her life; he was like a father, uncle, and older brother all rolled into one, but she knew he could be stubborn and rigid. To say that Mike saw the Universe in black and white terms was an understatement; of all the Human males she had encountered, Mike elevated stubbornness to an art form. She could just pick it now: if he does come back to her quarters, He’ll make her grovel She could hear him now,
Jez: Mike, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to lash out at you like that. Can you forgive me?
Mike: Funny, you don’t seem sorry. Jez, I’m so disappointed in you.
Jez: No, really, I was wrong; my actions inexcusable.
Mike: You were what?
Jez: I was wrong.
Jez understood Mike's technique; it was to force one to really reflect on one’s actions. To examine their conscience, to reflect on their behavior, to see where they went off track. Jez suddenly came to a realization she was just like MIke. “By the Four Sisters. I’m just like him!!!” Said Jez grudgingly.
Jez continued making the Skause, the replicator made the necessary ingredients needed, The ingredients were relatively simple, Ingredients Meat: lamb or beef chuck, cut into bite-sized chunks Base: butter Veggies: large yellow onion (diced), carrots (peeled and sliced), turnip or rutabaga (diced), and small head of green or red cabbage (chopped) Liquid: cups beef or vegetable broth (or enough to cover ingredients) Aromatics: (3) cloves garlic, crushed; (1) bay leaf; (1 tsp) fresh thyme. It only took about thirty to forty-five minutes to prepare, while the Skause was simmering. Jez had the replicator create a Kransekake: consisting of a sponge cake layered with an almond-studded meringue, rich vanilla pastry cream, and fresh berries.
Jez knew that if anyone could convince Mike to give her another chance, it would be Cindy; all Jez had to do was wait to see if Mike would arrive.
