As they sat to eat, Andrea spoke up between bites, "I know you value strength, Mike. We also value your strength. You think of the bear, but your name is not Bjorn and you're not called a berserker, as the bear warriors were, nor ulfhethinn for wolf, or the others. Michael is not a Viking name, it's the name of an archangel who was the warrior who forced Satan back into hell. He was the warrior of God and defender of heaven. A man is not considered peaceful unless he is capable of great violence, yet stays his hand in mercy. Did you know that when a pride of lionesses choose a male, they don't always go with the strongest who bests the other males? You see, they know that when they go off to hunt, the cubs need to be safe with him as their defender and even their babysitter. He isn't any good to them if he isn't also a good father."
She took another bite and then after she swallowed it finished, "Mike, we have never doubted your protective nature or ability. It is that only those of us who know you are qualified to say that we see your other side as well, and that we value and respect both. Those who only know the one, they are the outsiders. It's okay for family to know the truth about you, that you're a good man. Would you want it any other way?"
Andrea looked to Jez, patted her arm with a gentle hand, "You cook better than I thought you would. That was a good meal. I love it when someone can surprise me a little." She then winked at Jez and took her own dishes over to the side. "I think my work here is done. I'm going to go and get some rest. You have much to think about and decide about your future, but you don't need me to do that."
