Jez was getting annoyed at Andrea’s obvious flirting. Jez had to question if Andrea was just a huge flirt and she never noticed it before, or if she legitimately had feelings for Mike. Yes, Mike was handsome, powerful, and often dominated the room; she could easily see why women would be attracted to him.
She has a Grandpa Fetish, Gross. He’s old enough to be her grandfather.
Jez felt jealous; she felt hurt, but she didn’t understand why. Andrea was her friend, but so was Mike. In fact, Mike was more than a friend. Jez knew she should be happy for Andrea, happy that she appeared to like a man Jez considered family.

Jez sat there trying to remember if she had told Andrea of her feelings towards Mike. Yes, Jez’s first teenage crush was on Mike. She remembered as a kid, she fantasized of being Mrs. Mike Denton. She remembered playing M.A.S.H. with her friends; it was always, she was living in a mansion with Mike on Earth, she would be a Holonovelist and Mike a Sensi, they would drive a Mercedes, they would have fifteen kids, fourteen boys and one girl, and raise English Bulldogs. As she got older, she realized that the game M.A.S.H. was truly juvenile and foolish, as Mike was married and madly in love with T’Sara.
Jez’s face was now a mild red color; she was so embarrassed at the childish remembrances of her teenage crush. Mike was a kind and gentle man; any woman would be lucky to have him as a husband.
Jez was truly conflicted; her mentor and best girlfriend were openly flirting, and Jez just couldn’t process what she was seeing.

Mike was a bit surprised at Andrea saying, "Are you trying to get rid of me so you don't have to share that Kransekake? Don't worry, I'll only have a small piece. I wouldn't want it to go to my hips, It's hard enough to stay in shape at my age." It was clearly Jez trying to give Andrea the bum’s rush.
Mike was confused; he thought he clearly insisted that Andrea not leave to stay and enjoy the delicious, decadent Kransekake. "Ahhh..I ahhh, No I’m …I’m …not trying to get rid of you. I was just wondering if you’re as sweet as the cake?” Stammered Mike, like a school boy being called out in class and he hadn't read the chapters the night before. When Andrea mentioned her hips, Mike unconsciously looked at her hips like he was sizing her up. Mike suddenly realized what he was doing, and his face flushed red with embarrassment.
“Your hips look fine, ahhh,, I ahhh mean not that I was checking you out in that manner.” Mike’s voice cracked with embarrassment.

Mike suddenly remembered tenth-grade Algebra Class; he had a major crush on Freya Erikson, and like every fifteen-year-old high school boy, Mike was pitching a tent when the teacher called on him. He didn’t want to go to the board to work on the problem the teacher placed on the board because Freya sat in the front row, and she would have seen his adolescent thoughts on display. It was bad enough that the other boys in class knew of his crush on Freya. After that incident, the teasing went on for several weeks. That's probably why Mike kept his thoughts and emotions in check. The upside was Freya asked him to the Easter Dance.
Mike then looked at Jez; he could tell something was percolating in her brain. “Can we just cut the cake, already?” Said Mike.
