== Gym - Deck 14. ==
Lucy worked her way through the weight machines. She had her routine. Pushing herself at her own pace. Her personal rule was it was never about what someone else benched or lifted, Your PBs were your own. That helped because it meant you weren’t being distracted by someone else’s progress. It was a follow through from college. She had learnt to cherish the burn.
She also wanted to be able to help the next time a depowered door needed some brute force and ignorance. It felt liberating to come back to herself after a session. She wanted to be a better balance of brain and brawn. She knew she needed to trust herself and to be an adult.
She’d enjoyed the shoreleave at Grassmere. The British weather was colder than she liked, but it really was a green and pleasant land. She hadn’t been as sociable as she could have been, but she;d managed to stay out of trouble. The less said the better. With a new mission on the books she needed to work on being prepared. Mineral analysis, a little stellar cartography, and some cardio was what she needed.
Lucy stopped her last set when she felt tremors of tiredness. Focusing mind and body helped a lot. She made her way to the showers for a good soak. Unwinding a lot of pent up tension. She knew what she needed to be and what she didn’t need to be. She was more than the sum of her parts and she needed to hold onto that. Perfection was impossible, but competent was just right.
