Reyna narrowed her eyes, "So, you're planning on some aspects actually being horrible? That seems a bit pesimistic. I mean, I'm prepared for things to be horrible at times, but I hope they aren't. At least you don't think I'm a monster, which is what most people think if they find out someone was never actually born. I thought they would have found a surrogate, but for logistical reasons, they were avoiding people."
She smiled at her own efforts to make light of the conversation, "I'm looking forward to some of those conversations. I'm also wanting to start working with Cindy on some training, but wanted some input from you on what you felt would be most important for me. For some things, I'm comfortable talking to Cindy, but when it comes to the real life preparation of being a woman today, I'm going to be trusting in your words of wisdom to guide me." Thinking for a moment, she asked, "Special exercises for my back? I've started on tumbling and gymnastics, but I'm now curious about these special things you're talking about for my back."
Just then, Thor walked up and put his big head in Beno's lap. He looked up at her with big eyes until she brought a hand close enough to his head, then gave her hand a slurp and laid down next to her feet. That was the signal that she was in his system and accepted.
Reyna then got up and came over to Beno, another tear threatening to fall, but she kept it in check as she leaned in and gave her a big hug and a kiss on the cheek, "I feel better now that you know about me. Cindy said it wouldn't change things, because you wouldn't think less of me, but I knew that was only part of it. It was important to me to be able to say it to you. There are times when it matters to say things out loud." Once again Beno could feel the emotions stirring in Reyna and that she was both proud to have said these things out loud to her and filled with a kind of validation by not being rejected after it was done. In her heart she had known that Beno would be fine with it, but that wasn't the same as actually going through it and experiencing the result in real time. This was the concrete reality that Reyna lived in and she knew how different it could be from the statistical odds of success or the gut feeling that you were betting on. When the moment had passed and you knew the result of something, THAT was a fact, not a theory or a probability.
