Ris'maeriiffa had done his best to work with both Commander Jadaris and Lieutenant Commander Qi in the preparation of the probe they intended to use. For his own part, he offered his own knowledge and expertise on the EM radiation side of things, and offered feedback when the two senior officers requested.
Having a goal to work towards felt good, though he had to remind himself more than once of the axiom, "Perfection is the enemy of progress."
At some point the Captain had announced their arrival in system, and the real challenge began. He tapped his commbadge, and after it gave its signature chirrup, he spoke.
"Acknowledged. Midshipman Qab'ataar en route to bridge."
