A’kilees peered up slightly from his tricorder scan of the pod towards the incident occurring nearby. Sebastian was still offering suggestions to the commander and the lieutenants about how to conduct the first contact with the aliens. He was still adamant that there should be some display of intimidation to ward off any of the alien’s ideas of possible initial aggression. Amila soon made her way over to him and placed a hand on his shoulder and began talking to him softly. A’kilees couldn’t hear what was being said but he guessed Sebastian was probably being admonished by the Orion officer for his insistence against current standing orders.
As stated in the Prime Directive, this was to be a formal diplomatic interaction as set by Starfleet’s general orders and the wishes of Commander Ameen himself. If the mission had been ordered to be completely free from any interaction and influence, then Starfleet might have given permission to come up with some sort of ruse or cover-up and would have allowed the Zephyr to continue to the destination point the aliens were heading towards. That not being the case, a full open communication was going to happen here on the holodeck in just over ten minutes by A’kilees’ count. If there was any hostile aggression, Gath and the security team were closely standing by to protect the crew and the ship if needed.
Not wanting to be caught prying into the affairs of another department, A’kilees quietly returned his attention back to the cryopod as the reanimation timer was slowly counting down. The saurian could feel his anxiety building up within him again as the minutes passed by. Attempting to distract himself, he started humming under his breath to calm his nerves while hoping that nobody would hear him doing so.
