"The compound being used to wake up someone up out of a cryo-stasis is likely too complex to be administered in that form. Medical has been devoted to analyzing these issues, while we've been focusing on our project," she reminded him.
"We are about to make first contact, it is a privilege to be here. Let's focus on our jobs, and follow Commander Ameen's lead," she stated.
The young science officer's work was exemplary, and he was very bright, and would likely enjoy training in other divisions of science, she noted to herself. His willingness to speak up would likely make him a good department head someday, but for now they would need to work on timing, reading situations better.
"Cortez and A'Kilees, you have everything ready?" she asked, looking to quickly redirect the attention to the positive work they had done. With the algorithm that the two of them had managed to create using their combined background of music, math, and the engineer's unique language, they should be able to speed up the Universal Translator's progress as it attempted to learn the alien's language. They may even be able to identify particular gaps, and offer suggestions on how to accelerate the process, especially if the Commander was able to successfully convince the alien to want to communicate.
