Aeryn had always known that switching departments would come with its challenges and expectations, not to mention the pressure on herself mostly to prove that she had made the right decision. If her methods and approach were a little out of the box, then in the redhead's opinion it was worth the risk, taking the chance to show her capabilities in a different light, compared to what she was known for with Security. Just looking around the grow bay was proof it was working, something Sovar agreed with, and for that Aeryn was appreciative, along with the idea of them discussing the next phase of the project at a later date. If the FO wanted to understand and learn more about it, then she was happy to share that information with him.
" I'd like that, Commander, and you're right; it does seem a little unorthodox, but you'll find that my approach might differ from what's expected and how I enjoy challenging myself. I agree it's working so far, and I'm not afraid to adapt and change when necessary".
Sovar also seemed to understand and perhaps accept her reasoning for why they had initially chosen favourites to focus on when starting this particular project, going so far as to find it fascinating, while also bringing up the word 'unorthodox' again. She wasn't going to deny it, and actually smiled at how the FO had put it. " I'll admit that we wanted to have a little fun with it initially, to see what we could achieve before focusing on the more robust and nutritional types of crops, because ideally we want this to be an ongoing project".
Being honest was something Aeryn never shied away from, and just because Sovar was new didn't mean the DH had to put on a pretence; no doubt he had looked at her file before visiting the complex. It was then the Commander's turn to confess regarding the milaberries, specifically about how he had never tried them before. This was definitely an interesting turn of events because now it meant he would get to try something new, something Aeryn was a great advocate for.
The way he put it, as he accepted her offer, and how she couldn't ignore the spark of curiosity, prompted the science chief to harvest a handful of berries, placing them in a container before holding it out so Sovar could try some. " I only became a fan of them when my late fiancé introduced me to them, and they have a multitude of uses", Aeryn explained. " I once experimented with making Milaberry ketchup, which wasn't as horrific as it might sound".
