Tes almost breathed a sigh of relief, but he caught himself, knowing how selfish it would sound. His anxiety had spiked and he had a horrible inkling that whatever was moving by his neck was some kind of alien parasite. At the Academy, he had heard the jokes that one would be treating a headache one moment, then fending off an invasion force the next.
A broken clavicle. It was horrible, to be sure, but much less so than Tes was worried about.
Really, Tes? You let your imagination run wild…
Ejid looked nervous and winced. "How bad is it, doctor? Really hurts." He winced.
“I don’t doubt it,” Tes said, quite relieved that he could be frank with the Bolian. “You’ve broken your clavicle. While it’s definitely treatable, we’ll have to get you into surgery as soon as possible so as not to complete the fracture. We can have you in and out of surgery. I wouldn’t worry. You’re in good hands.”
Tes looked up to the nurse on the other side of the biobed.
“Nurse Adhya.”
She looked up and gave a small “mhmm”, ready for instructions.
“If you would be so kind, please take Ejid here to Surgery Bay 1. Mind his clavicle, make sure he stays fairly still. Scrub in, and I’ll meet you there in a moment.”
“Yes, Doctor,” Nurse Adhya replied, nodding her head and carefully helping Ejid up to his feet. She sat him up so he didn’t have to use his arms and move his clavicle further.
