Ameen held his ground as the giant stepped forward, refusing to let the sheer physical intimidation of Apex Prime force him to break eye contact or take a defensive step backward.
Out of the corner of his eye, Ameen noted the intense glare Lieutenant Gath was leveling at Midshipman Cortez. Ameen appreciated the young officer's enthusiasm and his brilliant work with the cipher, but rapid-fire questioning was a chaotic variable they couldn't afford right now.
"Hold your broadcast, Midshipman," Ameen ordered quietly. His tone left no room for debate, though it lacked any heat or anger. He turned his full attention back to the towering soldier.
"Apex Prime, we understand the severity of your situation," Ameen stated, his voice projecting the calm, measured authority of a Starfleet Captain. "We have no intention of keeping you from your people or the truth. The remaining eleven pods are currently secured in our Sickbay, receiving emergency power from our main grid."
Ameen gestured toward the archway of the Holodeck, though he knew marching a seven-foot-tall, genetically engineered super-soldier through the Zephyr's corridors would be an unnecessary security risk.
"I will grant you access to a secure terminal to review our sensor logs of the debris field, and we will take you to see your crew. Lieutenant Gath," Ameen said, pivoting smoothly to his Chief of Security. "Coordinate a site-to-site transport for myself, Apex Prime, and Doctor O'Fee directly to Sickbay. Keep your security detail close."
He looked back to the Science team, giving Amila a brief, knowing nod.
"Lieutenant Ra'an, you and the Midshipmen will head to the Science Labs. Prepare a terminal with the unclassified sensor sweeps of the debris field and the data from the flight recorder for Apex Prime to review. Let's get him his answers."
