Reyna nodded in agreement, "I'm glad most people didn't use that kind of talk with me either. Some still do, but I resist punching them most of the time. I love stories and always have. Life was a little confusing until I met my dad, but I suppose most kids don't remember when they were that young anyway. It was wonderful when Beno genuinely wanted to be my mom. It wasn't just something she said, I could feel it. It made me cry. Part of me wants to try not to grow up too fast because I've already missed so many things with a mom. I want this time to last, for both of us."
When Emma suggested them each singing a song, Reyna was nervous at first and even a little scared, "I've sang by myself mostly, especially in the shower or places like this, but almost never with someone else around. This is a little scary, but maybe facing scary things can be a good thing. I'm going to have butterflies, but I'll do my best to get them to fly in formation."
When it was her turn, Reyna got up and after giving a couple of verbal commands, a small area lit up by their table that had two screens for lyrics to show up on, one for the singer and another for the audience, in case they weren't sure what the words should be. A band appeared as well, but were more in the shadows. She stepped up to a mic on a stand and adjusted it to her height and joked to herself and her private audience, "I don't think either of us are ready for me to do Great Gig In The Sky yet, but maybe a simple song that's always felt like it should be my theme song."
A catchy tune started from the band and she began singing What I am by Edie Brickell & New Bohemians. Her movements were a little stiff at first, but she soon loosened up and got more into it, dancing a little as she sang. By the end, her sassy nature was coming through and she was smiling and having fun with it. At the end, she took a bow and put the mic back on the stand, then pranced back to her seat, blushing a little. She gave a tiny laugh and admitted that it was actually fun and thanked Emma for the suggestion.
