== I have been unable to figure out what to post, but it has been far too long, and that's not acceptable. My apologies. ==
Their new Midshipman had apparently chosen the exact moment of their coming out of warp next to a potential confrontation....to carry out his duty to report for duty.
Peter had to admire the dedication, even if the young man's timing could be described as being somewhat off.
He had not comment to the captain's orders, and would have given the same. No need to kick the doors in before they knew what they were dealing with, or could assess the situation.
His admiration for Ens. Wright rose a couple of degrees when she - discreetly but unmistakably - corrected T'Varen. This was indeed not the time nor the place to make jokes, after all. So he gave Wright a slight nod of appreciation as well. And from what he could tell from his position - which of course did not include any messages, or anything else than her actual movements and seeming to go straight to work - he liked her work ethic too. Her reports about adapting Security to the current situation just confirmed this impression.
She's going to become an asset!
His impression of the new science midshipman, however, was not all that positive. First the almost hilariously bad timing in the reporting, and now this.. He could have just as easily discreeetly used a science station to send any query to Qi. Instead of asking Chertstone who appeared relatively busy. It was also bad form, but he didn't say anything. His position remained the same: This was neither the time nor place for correcting someone audibly.
It was when he asked about sending a probe, that Peter felt he had to speak up. He directed his answer to the Captain, though.
"I would recommend against a probe, Captain", he said. "Our objective is to stay hidden for the time being. Sending a probe will jeopardize that. Not only from the launch itself - though that too - but also from the probe sending its telemetry back. Both are trackable."
Then the Cardassians arrived.
He stopped himself from mumbling a swear word in his native Danish, when he saw the complements. There was no way he could see that they could stand up to a squadron, certainly not with three cruisers. The Cardassians were not the Talarians. While maybe not entirely on par with Federation technology, what they lacked in finesse they often made up for with brute force.
This just got even more interesting
== Also, just because I feel it should be said to make sure there's no doubts: Opinions expressed about characters are my character's, and not mine. All are welcome, and I love to see people join!
