Qi barely caught his padd before it clattered to the ground. His fingers were numb, as if the air in the lab had suddenly turned to ice. He checked and re-checked the transponder data, but the readout was the same. What was Federation One doing here?
“Why do you suppose this didn’t come up in the mission brief?” He tilted the display toward Jadaris, not trusting his own eyes.
Something still wasn’t adding up. Were the Cardassians really holding the president hostage? Surely, the Federation would have sent the whole fleet. The ship could have been stolen, or its transponder could have been spoofed. Now was not the time to jump to conclusions.
“Computer, out of curiosity," Qi stammered, "What was the last known location of the Federation president?”
Vacation, hopefully. Denali is lovely this time of year.
