“Adhya to Dr. Th’etellis. The patient is prepped for surgery."
“On my way,” came the reply. Soon after, Tes stepped into the surgical bay, snapping on a pair of gloves. His hair had gone from a ponytail to a tight bun at the back of his head, to keep his hair extra out-of-the-way.
He saw the setup and stepped towards the biobed.
“Well, Ejid, we’ll begin the surgery now. You’re welcome to watch, or you can close your eyes. Either way, you shouldn’t feel a thing. If you do, however, just let us know, and we’ll administer more Terakine.”
Tes kept a poker face, but his antennae betrayed that he was anxious about the surgery. He knew what to do, of course, but there was still that nagging feeling that something would happen. It never usually did, but that didn’t stop the feeling.
“Alright,” Tes breathed out. “Let’s begin then.”
He grabbed the metal scalpel from the tray, quite thankful that it was included in the assortment. It may have been outdated, but Tes trusted his sense of touch better than his sense of sight, and consequently worked better with an old-fashioned scalpel than with a laser scalpel.
He began by making a small incision above the clavicle, just to test the waters, then expanded the incision with care until the clavicle was exposed.
“Let’s see here…”
