"Lieutenant Powl, you have the conn. Keep a close eye on those interceptors and maintain our current power distribution. Alert me immediately if their ETA changes."
Powl looked to the turbolift as Ameen seemed to leave in earnest. Clearly, there was no life-threatening emergency, so his gate didn't indicate panic, but it did show his sense of urgency.
"Aye, sir." Powl sat in the center chair once again. He looked over at the Engineering bridge station and began going down the list that would help the crew get through this race to finish analysis before the arrival of the Star Fleet vessels now racing to them.
"Petty Officer Molina, please monitor the comms between the vessels and alert me to anything that is not procedural. Further, the Zephyr typically relies upon your very efficient and high level of organization for communication from ship to ship. Obviously, we still have to do our jobs, but perhaps you need to take your time when processing requests to avoid pushing yourself too far. I know it has been a stressful day, and the tension is wearing on you."
I am fairly certain it will actually be more difficult for her to be slow. Historically, she seemed almost Vulcan in her ability as a communications officer.
Torock then rotated the chair to look at the young officer manning that station.
"Engineering, it is absolutely imperative that you maintain the power levels. A small hiccup right now could have catastrophic implications. Since this is a combination of a rescue and first contact, we must have absolute precision here. We have the appropriate levels right now; begin working to create redundancies for their needs."
Rotating the chair again, he looked at the Science station. But instead of speaking from the chair, he stood and walked to the adjacent Science station and spoke quietly while looking directly ahead at his station screen.
"It would appear that we are drawing an unusually large amount of current for the endeavors happening with the former inhabitants of the Broken Arrow. While storing the information we have gathered thus far is critical for our ability to catalog and transfer it once our Star Fleet colleagues arrive, we also need a backup on a physical medium in case the power draw affects our data banks. Once that is complete, please deliver it to me. The device should be encoded to unlock only for Captain Ameen, Commander Kier, and any Department Head on the Zephyr. Make sure the Science team has complete allocation of the sensor array and any other Science resources. Reserve only what is strictly necessary for normal operation for the other departments. You are not to speak about that backup device with anybody. The only exceptions are the individuals already name that will be able to unlock the information contained therein."
Torok stood once again to retake his place in the center chair. This time, rather than addressing individual department stations, he spoke to the whole Bridge.
"We have a limited amount of time before we are expected to transfer all materials to the incoming Star Fleet vessels. Make sure that each of you performs to the exact standards I have laid out. One more thing: make sure that the team investigating the Broken Arrow has every resource and request processed with the utmost of urgency, accuracy, and speed. Carry on."
Torok looked down to his chair to push the communications toggle. "Captain Ameen, each department is standing by, ready to assist quickly with whatever your needs may be."
It is up to you now team.
