Gath approached the replicator as he listened. His eyebrow raised for a moment, but he said nothing about her accidental lack of buttoning her blouse all the way. He didn't want to embarrass her and she quickly corrected it. Pretending as if it had not happened, he then got himself a glass of water with a little ice in it and took a sip.
He finally responded, "Yes, there are a number of such codes that are often used locally. There isn't a set standard, but many are common enough and vary a little based on what the medical authority is in the area. An Adam or Amber alert is still a common term used and instantly informs that the child is a male or female. As we're on a ship, there are already alerts for some situations, but some very common color codes are:
BLUE for adult medical emergency
WHITE for pediatric medical emergency
PINK for infant abduction
GRAY for a combative person that is unarmed
SILVER for a person with a weapon and/or active shooter and/or hostage situation
ORANGE for a hazardous material spill/release"
Gath considered for a moment, "Given the technology at our disposal, you could easily create subroutines for certain things to happen if you called a CODE COLOR. We could also assign a drone or EMH type program for within your facilities that could respond to assist in security matters. Nothing too drastic, but something to perhaps be able to have a stun capability in the event someone became hostile, so that you could prevent injuries to themselves or others. It would also immediately inform my department, if that were the case, and we would respond accordingly."
He leaned forward and said with concern, "Doctor, I'm always open to assisting you with improvements in helping to keep you and the crew safe under all circumstances. If we need to, we can also bring some things to the Captain, if they require his approval, but you have quite a bit of authority when it comes to the automated responses within your medical jurisdiction. Thus far, the only thing that would require the Captain's approval is if you want a program to be able to stun an attacker. Even that is only because there is always the remote chance that it could have medical side effects to the person being stunned or those near them."
