Gath then set the small cup down and pointed to the ring, "Does that carry a personal significance? Even on your planet, there are vastly conflicting cultural variations on rings. The type, size, significant symbols and which finger it is placed on almost approaches a secret code that I confess I am unable to recall accurately. I know that turning a symbol inward hides it, so it appears as a plain band, but I don't know if it means more facing you or me and so forth. Klingons are more intent about what is on the jewelry and that it is displayed prominently by the person as a kind of declaration. Does this one bear something significant to your family?"
Evie had a smile hearing the question. "Yes this is something that carries with it significance, most Irish women have one of these things." She held her hand up for him to see the ring. If I would put it on my other hand I am either engaged to be married or married. This one was given to me by my high school boyfriend, our future was something that tore us apart."
Taking a sip of the drink again, this time with a lesser effect. "This drink was the first batch I did with my sister, you are correct on how it was made we just got the recipe wrong or it would be a lot smoother. It was our first lesson about how even when things don't always go right, it doesn't mean it isn't good." It was a lesson she remembered from an early age.
