There was a brief pause while the answers were processed. "Lieutenant Mala, there is one vessel currently in orbit. The Federation starship Prometheus has maintained position for the past three weeks. Long-range sensor records indicate no other vessels have entered the system for several months."
A topographical map appeared, crisscrossed with lines resembling geological fault fractures. "Tectonic analysis indicates the region is exceptionally stable. Seismographic records spanning the last five years show little to no activity. This planet lies well within Federation territory and has been preserved as an archaeological research site. Most excavations have focused on submerged ruins belonging to what appears to have been a technologically advanced civilization. To date, researchers have found no evidence explaining their disappearance."
The display shifted to images of vast underwater structures. "Based on the architecture and recovered materials, it is believed this civilization achieved spaceflight. The extent of their exploration remains unknown." The holographic display changed again, replacing the ruins with a map marked by dozens of colored points scattered around the mountain.
"These markers identify every documented sinkhole created by groundwater erosion through anthracite deposits. Current geological models conclude that groundwater instability presents the greatest environmental hazard. All but one report state that shuttle overflight or ground vehicles traveling faster than sixty kilometers per hour could trigger a cascading collapse. In the worst-case scenario, approximately half of the mountainside could fail." Several of the markers began to glow.
"A recently filed report detected faint power emissions at several locations within the cave network. One prevailing theory suggests these systems were designed to reinforce and stabilize the surrounding rock. Their current operational status is unknown."
Bishop established full remote access to the shuttle's systems, projecting the information for everyone to see. Live camera feeds revealed the cave entrance, where two distinct sets of tire tracks disappeared into the darkness. "The shuttle's flight recorder indicates it made three passes over the cave entrance before landing. Communications logs contain a repeating series of brief transmission bursts with no confirmed source or decipherable pattern."
The flight path appeared beside the video feed.
"The original flight plan listed a destination at Base Camp, one hundred and fifty kilometers from the landing site. Mission notes indicate the occupants intended to observe the night sky. The absence of light pollution provides ideal astronomical viewing conditions." Another window opened with weather data.
"Meteorological records show only light precipitation over the past six weeks. No significant weather is forecast for the next three days. Both shuttles remain fully operational. Diagnostic scans reveal no evidence of hostile action, and all equipment has been accounted for."
==Its a bit of an over share for GM input to all inquiries in order to save some time, there are always new spots available for anyone to join. Its only too late after this is closed==
