It doesn't mean the Commanding Officer has to be single their whole life, it just means sometimes the consequences of certain commands are theirs to shoulder alone. The very reason why some are destoned to lead while others are to follow, I can see you as a great leader in time."
She turned her attention to Cologero. "You also shown me what I wanted to see, sometimes the best thing to do is recognize when to lead and when not to. You recognized this wasn't your time to be group leader, you recognized it was her time to lead falling into place affording her the proper respect." The final part to this she addressed the whole group.
"The purpose of the team building exercise was this, yes as we function as separate teams we all work together. How we utilize the talent in the team could mean the difference between life and death. In life it doesn't matter who you are there are two big rules that unite us all. Rule one is people are going to die, rule number two is Rule number one can be prolonged but never stopped. I am proud of all of you for this, picking up on those clues like that was extremely impressive. I have a report to file with the Captain, I would like at this time to ask what did you think of this experience. Jez as leader of the group you get honors." She wanted Jez to have the opportunity to go first.
"Mike for the record I don't know enough about you to form an opinion one way or another, this did sway my opinion of you in a positive way. As a leader I seen you recognized that she needed counsel, something we all need from time to time. You didn't try to tell her what to do, or even what choices she should make. Jason is going to need that kind of help too, someday he will come into his own and will need that guidance.
"Ethan you show great potential, we can help bring it out in you."
