The smell of tobacco told Flint that the Captain was plotting. This was as far as this ship went. A good sign.
"Flint, adjust course to give us maximum possible breathing room when our vectors merge. I'd rather not get caught up in the detonation of our own mines." came the order.
"Chief Chertstone, what was the Lowry's last heading, please?" asked Qab'ataar from his left.
Flint was mentally split in two directions at once. “Aye-aye, Ma'am.” he said over his shoulder before turning to check his console and answer the science officer.
Yeah, right. Um...
The best idea he could think of at this stage of how to manoeuvrer the ship this close now without being detected would be to literally ride the subspace eddy currents that the armada was going to produce in their wake as they passed.
The forces would be enough to spin and flip the ship lie a leaf on the wind. The trick would be controlling that spinning and flipping without any energy output what so ever.
Surf's up, Big Kahuna! he thought as he imagined the Yeager briefly tube riding away.
And to Qab'ataar he said; “That's a bit hard to say. Grey mode kind of makes that impossible to determine. But if it were me. I'd have probably plotted a parabolic drift, away in the opposite direction to the Cardassians when we first detected them. They probably kept in our physical shadow as long as they could to mask any output they might have produced. Which they obviously didn't as we didn't detect them leaving. But at a guess...” He pointed to the port side of the vessel. “That way. Somewhere.”
