Tes nodded. “Yes, it’s best if we sedate.”
Tes didn’t trust in many things, but he trusted in the steadiness of his own hands, and he knew that he could reasonably complete the surgery without complications.
“Alright. Let’s do it.”
But he knew he wouldn’t be able to stave off the waves of residual anxiety after the surgery was done.
That’s a problem for future Tes. Pull yourself together.
Even though the rest of his body was beginning to become twitchy, his hands remained steady as he returned to Ejid’s side.
“We’re going to sedate you for the rest of this procedure, just so you’re not accidentally causing more damage than is already there. The surgery will be over once you wake up again, and we’ll have you recover before we send you back to Chief Calleja.”
He turned his attention to Nurse Adhya.
“Nurse Adhya, please start Ejid on Neurozine gas, but have Anesthezine on standby just in case.”
And to Ejid he said…
“Alright. I’d like you to count down from ten, and get to one if you can.”
…even though Tes knew full well that the Neurozine would kick in hopefully before seven.
