Amila somewhat contained her smirk as the tactical officer dumbed-down warp fields for her, and impulse thrust for her - a physicist. She could tell he meant well, might have even been trying to show off a little.
Bless his heart.
A simple clarification that he still wanted to check things out before warping in would have sufficed.
Tom looked at the CO and playfully, shook his fist and said, "She's a sassy one, with lots of fight to her!" He then blushed and looked back around to Ra'an for a moment, "Oh...um...Sorry, I meant the ship. Honestly, I did. Not that...um...never mind...I'll shut up now, while I'm still a Lieutenant." He suddenly was very focused on his control console again.
"Yeah, I gathered," she said dryly, though not without some amusement.
His response didn't seem to acknowledge her potential suggestion for how to adjust what science was working on to better assist the hit and run type tactict. She was quickly forming opinions of the brash Lieutenant and starting to stereotype the way he interacted with women, just based on the little data she had about him. She sighed internally and redirected her attention to Lieutent's Gath and Powl.
"I think it's fair to assume that when we get there we might find the Yeager already engaged. "Lieutenant Powl, did you understand what I was trying to say? If you think that Tom's recommendation - assuming we end up engaged in battle - is Zephyr's best tactic - if they are already engaged, and old Bajoran signal may be useless. They'd have had those codes for a long time by now..."
"But if we're going to be thinking microjumps, maybe we throw them off on our signal, or even make them think there are more of us - not knowing how quickly the fleet will be able to respond to the region," she continued. "We don't have a lot of information yet, but I'm assuming "blockade" means there are quite a few of them, and if the Yeager is already engaged, she could be getting pretty beat up."
