The turbolift doors opened and A’kilees had made it quietly to his station after the yellow alert had been broadcast aboard the Zephyr. It had taken him a while to get to the bridge due to his location. He had been helping out a fellow engineering ensign with a rather large and heavy panel deep in the jefferies tubes in the far edge of the ship when the yellow alert sounded and he quickly realized he was needed on the bridge immediately. He gave the Chief Engineer a quick friendly nod as he took his position nearby at the secondary engineering console. Listening intently, A’kilees was quickly caught up on the current situation they were heading into.
"Engineering, execute silent running protocol upon final drop. Dim ambient lights, drop life support baselines, shutter warp plasma seals, and restrict all shipboard arrays to passive reception. Our only outbound communication will be that narrow line-of-sight link to our relay." Commander Ameen ordered aloud.
“Yes sir! Switching to silent running protocol.” A’kilees responded and turned towards his station. Just like the master systems table back down in Engineering, everything on the ship could be controlled at the secondary engineering console on the bridge. Just a few switches between the Zephyr's systems and a handful of inputs on the screen and everything would be done quickly before dropping out of warp. Not wanting to waste any more time the saurian got straight to work.
First, the lights dimmed to low power amber ambiance as A’kilees swiped the dial down and began to quickly move through the other various systems on the screen diverting power away from non essential systems limiting life support signatures. Next, he toggled the warp plasma seals so that no access plasma would be detected when they entered the area.
“Life support baselines near flatline and all warp plasma seals are shut and secure.” A’kilees reported aloud.
He was making good time accomplishing his tasks but still on the clock. The Zephyr would be arriving soon so the saurian pushed himself harder. He narrowed down the broadband communication and deactivated all other active communications arrays shipwide. A’kilees looked up from his console towards the commander.
“*Gwar* Running silent sir.”
