The Zephyr is being called to join the fleet as it turns out the Cardassians have made their move, its been a while since they have done anything. I have a feeling my Sickbay and every other is going to be taxed to its limits, and then taxed even more. It will take everything we have to keep moving because at one point we are going to reply on par surgery, where par means that we keep our patient alive. The battle conditions are going to be a factor where as Chief Medical Officer I am going to need to keep an eye on patients and staff alike, in those conditions its easy to lose your nerve.
If a Doctor loses their nerve in the wrong time, it could cost their patient their life then it gets worse from there. Now that sickbay is ready and our secondary location is ready, I have ordered all my staff to rest while they can. When this hits the fan I have no idea when any of us are going to be well rested again, even with the small mandatory rest periods it just means that we will be less dead on our feet.
I have confidence in the Crew of the Zyphyr, they will do everything they can so Medical can do the same. If an Away Team is called we are ready for that, there is a part of me that would prefer to stay here but not at the cost of lives. In the end I am expecting to spend a lot of time in Surgery, my hands will probably be as red as my hair just as long as the result is a live patient. Speaking of that I know we are going to lose some along the way, we just can't allow that to get to us. We can celebrate the ones we save and morn the ones we loose after the dust settles and the last of the patients has been treated, that also goes into the two top rules we should always keep in mind. Rule one people die, rule number two not even Doctors can change rule number one.
I have ordered Sickbay to be ready for everything, even if its designated as a safe zone there is a chance power levels could go low. Ordering supplies that don't require much for power or any at all could come in handy. If we have them now we don't have to worry about needing them later. Finally when it comes to my staff we are going to do everything in our power to keep things moving, I just hope it holds. That and I know they are going to look to me for guidance and strength, I have enough for everyone I hope.
