While the Zephyr waited, silently watching and listening, a pair of new sensor contacts resolved. The first transponder was identified as the USS Inaieu, an older mark of Sovereign-class Explorer. The second transponder was that of the Aquila, a Ross-class Explorer with a solid if unremarkable service record. The fleet registry had the Inaieu as flagship of Rear Admiral zh'Ollan, an aggressive combat officer newly promoted to flag rank, while the Aquila was now commanded by Captain Daniel Brooks, a rarity in Starfleet being that he was a Medical Doctor in command of something other than a Hospital Ship.
The two ships drove straight towards the Dreadnought, Inaieu and the Dreadnought exchanging heavy weapons fire. The Dreadnought's energy signature wavered slightly as shield generators failed and power was diverted.
Then the Inaieu's transponder disappeared and passive sensors registered the energy spike of a large antimatter explosion.
The Dreadnought veered off its initial course as the Keldons moved between it and the oncoming Aquila. The Hidekis, smaller and faster, continued their pursuit of the withdrawing Yeager.
