The Inaieu was gone.
The large antimatter explosion picked up after the barrage of fire from the Cardassian dreadnought which by the readings on the monitor had sustained minimal damage as their shield held against the core detonation. With an explosion that large and being within close proximity to nearby enemy vessels, A’kilees surmised that there would be very few survivors of the Inaieu if any remained.
A’kilees silently began preparing to switch the Zephyr over from running silent to combat readiness. Power would need to be diverted from other non essential systems for the Zephyr’s shields to withstand any heavy barrages from either the dreadnought or if faced by a concentrated attack from the smaller vessels defending it. Cardassian starship technology was certainly behind that of the Federation but underestimating an enemy you perceived as weaker than yourself had historically never ended in favor of those who viewed themselves superior.
The saurian was deep in thought as he worked. This was his first instance of combat and he was feeling nervous. Sure there had been multiple simulations at the Academy but nothing really prepares you for the real thing. His other thoughts were concerned about his Academy friend Taadun whom he knew was currently serving aboard the Aquila now locked in combat with the Cardassians. As part of the Tactical division, Taadun would be assisting in the skirmish keeping the shields up and the phasers online. Regardless, the saurian hoped that Taadun was alright and would be able to keep the Ross class vessel going under that heavy fire and the best he could do right now was stand by for any further instructions.
