Gath had armed himself with a phaser, as was protocol, but he had also hung his own small tools from his belt as he preparation for battle. A'kilees would recognize them as the compact devices that he had used to deploy and open up the hull of the ship they had rescued the nearly extinct pod people.
A message came in from Baldwin:[All security deployed to designated critical areas with side arms on stun as per General Quarters One - Yellow Alert. Time from alert to full deployment 6 min 32 sec.]
Gath responded with a simple, "Acknowledged."
He was beginning to tense up a bit as they were arriving on the edge of the system and after all hell had started to unleash on the screen, his pulse was quickening. They came out of warp to quite a show. The CO had given his orders and they were about to turn on the lights and dive into the thick of it.
That was when Ava walked onto the Bridge. She gave him a wink and acted like it was just another day at the office. He didn't know it until that very moment, but that had been exactly what he had needed. It reminded him that he was right where he wanted to be. That helped clear his head and put him in the state of mind he knew he would do his best work.
Everything on the ship was as safe and green as he could make it. Now they had to see how they did in what had suddenly become the rougher part of the neighborhood.
