Sebastian heard the Captain's order and immediately brought the secondary launchers online.
"Yes, Captain."
His fingers moved quickly across the controls, confirming the probes were armed and ready.
"Decoy probes ready."
At the Captain's command to execute, Sebastian released them.
The secondary tubes opened, sending the probes away from the Zephyr along separate trajectories. Their telemetry appeared on his console as they accelerated away from the ship, broadcasting the false signatures they had been configured to generate.
"Probes away."
He kept his attention on their telemetry, watching for any indication that the Cardassian fire-control systems had noticed them.
Amila's next order came through almost immediately.
"Cortez, the Battlecruisers. You're up."
Sebastian acknowledged with a quick nod.
"Understood, Lieutenant."
He kept the probe telemetry active while bringing the Hideki contacts onto a secondary portion of his display.
"Watching both. I'll let you know the moment I see a response from the escorts or any indication the probes have taken their attention."
For now, there was nothing to analyze. The probes were out there, and Sebastian intended to find out whether the Cardassians had taken the bait before drawing any conclusions about what came next.
