The thirty year old spaceframe groaned in protest as it went from sublight to light to sublight velocities in a matter of seconds, and inertial dampeners struggled to compensate. They failed entirely in the pod housing the deflector dish, and whichever poor souls had that as their battle station were killed instantly by the sudden acceleration and deceleration.
Error messages sprang up all over the console. The warp coils that weren't misaligned were ruptured, spraying an unhealthy amount of drive plasma into the void.
==Ra'an==
The Zephyr's shots, powerful as they were, seemed to do nothing to the Dreadnought. Shield power dropped two percent, and sensors registered a secondary layer of shields had activated beneath the primary shields. Those shields were designed to protect the ship against planetary defense platforms or ground-based surface to orbit weapons; the relatively few torpedoes the Zephyr carried would be like proverbial bugs on the windshield, and better used against targets it could actually hurt.
==O'Fee==
The double shields prevented any meaningful data being collected. The fact that the escorts had pursued the Yeager and then the Zephyr indicated that they were not powering the Dreadnought in any way.
==Cortez==
While a novel idea, the issue with launching decoys mid-battle was that the enemy often saw them launch, and thus ignored them. One was picked off by an opportunistic disruptor blast, but the rest were ignored as the Cardassians continued to focus on their targets.
==All==
Consoles flickered and sparked as the Zephyr attempted to recover from its micro-jump, with consoles dedicated to the ship's more sensitive instruments displaying errors as they were shocked out of position or suffering power overloads.
The ship then rocked as it took a one-two punch of disruptor cannons from the closest two Hidekis. The jump had bamboozled them temporarily, but it had been a simple matter of turning around the moment the target reappeared to allow them to re-engage.
Shields dropped to 80%.
