Morad gripped the edges of the center console as the deck shuddered, the visual feed momentarily strobing with static as Cardassian counter-measures washed across the sensor arrays. The Hidekis were disciplined, deadly, and tightly coordinated, dancing just along the fringes of the Zephyr’s primary phaser arcs and refusing to give Powl a clean shot.
They’re matching our turns, but they don't have our straight-line muscle, Morad realized, watching the tactical plot update with a sudden surge of clarity. Old girl was built to sprint and hit...
"Krandall, break the weave!" Morad commanded, his voice cutting cleanly through the hum of the bridge. "Stop trying to out-turn them. They’re built for knife-fights, but they can't match our straight-line acceleration. Punch full impulse on a single burst vector, heading zero-two-five mark zero-one-zero. Blow through their formation and force them into a tail chase!"
He leaned over the display, plotting the vector directly toward the Star Base's defensive envelope before glancing back at the tactical console.
"Keep that line burning straight toward the station's perimeter," Ameen added with a grim edge. "If they want to stay on our six, we'll drag them right through Starbase 214’s heavy battery kill zones. And Powl, prep our aft torpedo tube. The second they commit to our baffles and try to close the distance, feed them a spread right down their throats. Let's see how tight their formation holds when they're chasing into heavy ordnance."
Turning toward Science, Morad’s eyes locked onto Ra'an and her team.
"Amila, our probes' first ECM attack saved the day! Launch a renewed effort on their sensors, get creative and try to bog them down again. Focus all auxiliary sensor power through the ventral and saucer arrays. Burn through any other counter-jamming they try and continue to boost our own resolution. Yes, they are better than we thought, but if they think they can compete with Star Fleet Science and sensors, they have another thing coming." Morad leaned toward their console, the tension in his jaw giving way to a sharp, defiant smirk. His eyes locked onto Amila for a split second, carrying that unspoken, absolute trust between them, before sweeping to Keti and Cortez with a challenging nod. "You three are the smartest minds in this sector. Now go remind them who wrote the book on electronic warfare. Don't hold back!"
He then pivoted toward the engineering station, a seat that still held a special place in his heart, meeting the Saurian's gaze directly and offering a firm, appreciative nod.
"A'kilees, outstanding work keeping the core clamped down and getting deflector control back in our hands," Ameen said, his voice warming with genuine pride. "Your team saved us from a total collapse. Now, I need you to keep that impulse manifold fed with clean power. Don't let her starve; we need every ounce of thrust this old girl has got!"
