The attack wasn't going as good as Beno had hoped, seeing the whole thing and hearing about the window of time made it seem like it wasn't all lost. It perked her interest that might come in handy, the issue would be time. If they had something actionable the two factors that go against them would be time and amount of attempts, they could possibly do two attempts with the third being too dangerous.

"Lieutenant Coppola we are going to need the timings between volleys, we can send out those probes accordingly." If they can neutralize the one ship, the second might back off a little, they might even have enough to do the same trick twice.
