Tom was managing to evade most of the incoming fire, but then said to Powl, "For a few seconds, I'm going to use a basic figure eight evasive pattern. I'll line you up on at least two of the targets, but then I'll have to change my pattern or the enemy is going to be able to take advantage of it. Ready? Here we go...."
As stated, Tome made some rather wildly exaggerated moves, then suddenly swung the ship into the figure eight. Powl saw the targets quickly brought into the rear firing arc and he let lose with everything he had available. Then, just as quickly, the ship came around to line up a second ship that was hot on their heels and was able to let loose a second salvo. Tom was keeping things moving with the throttle at full, just trying to keep them guessing. He didn't have time to see if the shots landed or not. The enemy wasn't backing down and they were pouring on plenty of effort in their own firing patterns.
