As Robin entered the cargo bay she paused, a bit overwhelmed. This wasn't what she had been expecting.
Wait, what was I expecting?
The entire party was the opposite of how she'd been raised. On Iota Tau Christmas was serious business. Not depressing or without enjoyment, but serious. Christmas parties were times for family to get together, swap stories and see people you hadn't seen since the last party. Her extensive family would gather at the huge ranch house where she'd grown up and chat, then have a huge and very traditional meal of turkey or goose. Everyone was expected to be on their best behavior, though a few of her uncles would inevitably slip out back, indulge in the family moonshine, and start target practicing with phaser rifles set to kill. They didn't shoot cans off fences, they disintegrated them... and frequently, parts of the fence. The Augment could smell the alcohol from the still from the door, and that did remind her of home.
Still, while Robin was the designated 'good girl' at any party she didn't take it seriously. It had been over a decade since she'd left the confining, dry colony world, and she enjoyed a good get-together. She didn't drink out of any disapproval towards alcohol, but because her odd metabolism was vulnerable to alcohol. One drink enough to get her seriously buzzed and two enough to get her drunk. It looked like there was a spot to pick up non-alcoholic drinks, though, and then of course there was a food table. She appreciated the effort on that. The nurse headed towards it like a shark heads towards blood in the water.
The Artemis CMO was wearing a custom-designed red and green 'ugly sweater' with Artemis bow-and-arrow patterns and a large green Star Fleet delta in the middle. On her head was a pair of fuzzy brown reindeer antlers, and she'd actually put on a bit of make-up for the occasion, a rarity. She wore a white skirt with a blue snowflake pattern and green shoes with red puff balls on the toes to complete the intentionally tacky look.
Stopping off to get some grub, the nurse filled a plate with cookies, blondie brownies, and some chocolates. There was a coffee decanter and she grabbed a cup, something that she needed after a long shift. She looked around and spotted Aeryn and Beka. They were a couple now, and though Robin hadn't had the chance to interrogate her best friend over it now was the time, before the party well and truly got started.
She waved towards the (hopefully) happy couple. Aeryn had evidently put a lot of thought into her outfit and looked gorgeous, and the short, slight nurse envied her for a moment. "Hey, you two. Merry Christmas!"
