“Ready to go be couple-y at someone?” Beka whispered to Aeryn.
Robin didn't say anything, but she gave her friend a slight knowing grin.
C'mon, Beka, you know I heard that.
Bless her, the redhead (well, one of the redheads) seemed slightly nervous. Understandable, since this was the first such event in quite a while aboard the perpetually-busy Artemis. And Beka didn't have a good track record with parties... whether breaking up with someone or being chewed out by Cera. Combined with her slow recovery Robin had to admit that she was a bit surprised to see her friend here at all. The purple-haired young woman was determined not to make her friend feel awkward. She desperately hoped her best friend would be happy with Aeryn; she deserved some real happiness. She got scooped up in a massive hug, which she eagerly returned.
“Hey you. Merry Christmas!” the redhead replied. “I gotta admit, I feel like I got my present already,” she said, hooking arms with Aeryn again. “Makes a very pleasant change from getting binned off,” she added with a roguish grin.
"I'll bet! But you deserve it, both of you," she said, addressing Aeyrn as well. After their talk on the holodeck Robin knew how difficult it might be for her as well to be close to someone. After the recent events that the crew had been through Robin felt the need to live vicariously through others for a bit. She felt worn down, like a bit of her soul had been torn out in the last few grim missions, and combined with the inevitable stresses of being CMO she needed to see some true joy, to remember what it was like to be among friends and see them doing well.
She offered each of the happy couple a cookie off her plate before destroying one herself, a chocolate-chip that she guessed was supposed to resemble a Santa hat but somehow completely failed in that regard. It tasted fine, though, and that was all that mattered.
"So... ummm... where do I even start with this thing?" She waved her hand in a gesture across the cargo bay.
