Damian didn’t say anything giving Ju time to take in the insanity of this Christmas party. Eun Ju had never seen anything like it and imagined it was going to get really rowdy before the end of the night seeing the sheer amount of booze that was being offered. Already people were carrying around cups, filling them at stations, and some even getting refills. There was a hum of conversations, cackles of laughter from the depths of the room, and people enjoying themselves. Eun Ju was not entirely sure that she would fit in here, there was always the ‘everyone matters’ mantra that they slapped you within Starfleet but this was a different ship. It almost felt like Damian was bringing her home to meet his family, because, in essence, that was what a ship crew was.
Without a word, he began to lead her across the room. She had been so busy honestly gawking at the party attendees that she hadn’t seen the red-headed woman from across the room wave to the pair. She walked beside him looking at their destination now that there was one. The smile on Damian’s face and the comfort she could feel wafting off of him allowed her to feel more confident that they weren’t heading into a wolf's den or something like that.
The red-headed woman teased Damian about his wardrobe causing Ju to smile softly knowing that she had a small hand in picking his outfit. Though, to be fair, when he said Christmas Party, she had imagined a fine affair. Large Christmas trees, dangling mistletoe, cranberry-flavored drinks, small bite-size snacks, a dance floor with swirling lights, the traditional Christmas cake, and possibly a cheesy visit from Santa. This, was certainly not what she expected, and had she known the Artemis and it’s crew better she might have known she could dress more comfortably. She felt overdressed, but at least she could make a good impression, or so she hoped.
The woman introduced herself to Ju, stating that her name was Tyra. The name didn’t ring a bell, except that Damian mentioned her from time to time during their conversations, but Ju had no idea that she was the Captain. Ju reached out confidently and took Tyra’s hand offering it a nice shake, firm, but not hard. “It’s really nice to meet you. I’m Eun Ju, but mostly I just go by Ju for ease.” She smiled brightly. “I may or may not have had a strong hand in helping his wardrobe. However, he didn’t tell me it was more of a relaxed atmosphere, we should have gone with our second plan, the ugly Christmas sweaters,” she nudged Damian playfully.
“I hope you don’t mind me crashing your party. Damian and I met in a craft store which turned into a fun evening at Quarks’.. well it’s a long story.” She smiled softly looking at the red-headed woman. She was older than Eun Ju but she seemed nice enough, at least for now. The smile was open enough and Ju was just happy they weren’t angry at her for not being of the Artemis crew, though, she was afraid she was the only one here he wasn’t stationed on the Artemis. “I’m an Engineer on the Philly.” She stated what she figured that it might come up at some point. Ju was still very new, many would say wet behind the ears, she had not yet even had her first mission. She knew that she would grow up quickly under Starfleet, she was a harsh task master and teacher. People started out as semi-adults and grew jaded and experienced rather quickly due to the situations they were placed in.
