Tyra chuckled as Ju joked about holding a séance on the Philly but given the ship's long history of misfortune, she half-way thought it wasn't a terrible idea. Actually, it had probably been tried by a few desperate enlisted and it didn't seem to have changed much.
“I have actually researched the Artemis a lot, back when I was at the Academy, she has an impressive Engineering deck. I was surprised to be assigned a small ship like the Philly but I’m certain we will definitely put wear and tear on our little deck.”
It always struck Tyra as odd when she was reminded that Artemis was known fleet wide for its state of the art technology. While Tyra was use to being on renowned ships, it was rarely because of any technological supremacy. The Avenger had been renowned because of its origin and its unique crew composition. The Gettysburg had been renowned for its storied history and its ghost stories. The Artemis was renowned for something none of them could control, though she suspected the crew's reputation proceeded them as well for better or worse.
"Well, if I knew where the Chief was, I would happily introduce y'all and you could geek out over Arty together. Unfortunately, he's not a big party goer," she glanced at Damian for a split second, "and while I love the Artemis, I don't think we appreciate the same aspects of her," she said with a light laugh. "However, if we ever have need for a séance, I know who to call."
“I just want to say, it’s really nice to meet some of Damian’s friends and shipmates. He talks a bit about people but putting faces to names is much better,” Ju smiled warmly at Tyra and Mara. “So, since you’re Damian’s close friends, I’m sure you have great stories to share about our Commander,” her smile continued but there was a mischievous nature to it. “Surely there are some too good not to share.”
Tyra wasn't certain how close Mara and Damian were but just by the nature of their positions, she considered Damian a good friend, despite their short service together in comparison to some of her previous first officer. She suspected it was their similar backgrounds and complimentary personalities that allowed them to work well together, professionally and personally. As such, while she could probably dig up an embarrassing story or two that had been told to her over a drink after their official meetings had concluded, she wouldn't do that to Damian.
But that didn't mean there wasn't anything on the table that was fair game…
"Has he told you about his relationship with the science department? Or his role in the infamous Hug-Gate incident?" she asked, her blue eyes sparkling with mischief over her glass as she took a big swig of the moonshine within.
