"We could go over and humiliate some of the tough guys at the gun range, but I'm pretty sure none of 'em would want to take on the Security Chief at that. We could also go over to the Idol Zone and do some singing, or anything else. So long as it doesn't involve me drinking I'm up for pretty much anything. Aeryn, what do you think?" Robin asked
"Let's go to the idol zone, but I need to make a pitstop at the bar first, because I'm going to need some fortified courage, before you get me near a microphone," came the reply.
"Sounds good to me."
“You pair of lightweights,” Beka teased. “I don’t even drink and I’m still going up. Even though my whole ‘public singing’ career was one chorus around a camp fire in the Delta Quadrant.”
She tailed her companions back to the nearest bar, draining her cola and then pouring herself another one. Whilst they were loading up, the redhead also helped herself to another round of snacks. Everything seemed to be in good supply and she’d been behaving herself lately, so she saw no harm in indulging a little.
"All right, girls, let's show 'em how it's done," Robin said.
“That sounded a lot like volunteering to go first to me,” Beka shot back with a waspish grin. “Do these booths do choir girl? If it really was our Security department who set them up then I’m gonna bet no.” She caught the look on Aeryn’s face. “Present company excepted, of course!” she added quickly, still grinning.
In all honesty, Beka was already coming to terms with going first. Her self-confidence had taken a battering lately but she was still the most head-strong of the group. Plus there was the fact that, as an avowed teetotaller, she didn’t need to get tanked up first.
Which is probably a bad thing. Me and Robin have such different tastes I don’t know how one follows the other. Unless we use Aeryn as a buffer… Not sure what she’d be singing though.
