The sting of being reassigned was lessened by several factors, the fact that Xenara was going to be piloting such a huge ship, the fact that she would most likely be able to finally control the gravity in her personal quarters - something she'd have to get the Captain's approval for -, and the fact that several of her friends from the Geronimo were coming with her.
Even Davis...
But with all the good the move would do her, being away from her new brother, Commander Sothrick, was the most painful. She kept in telepathic contact with him as long as she could, but once she could no longer sense him, her heart sank. She still had no real knowledge of how telepathy worked, only that it worked with him and possibly his wife, but until they could meet again, the Elaysian would have to settle for theories and conjecture.
Then again, they had a deep connection, even deeper than what Sothrick had with his own wife, so perhaps some of his abilities could have leaked into her? Only time would tell. At the very least, she might be empathic. Being telepathic was still a strange feeling to share with anyone, but she had heard of empaths, which, in her line of work, could come in quite handy.
As she walked down the empty corridor, Murphy - her Terran calico feline - rested accross the back of her shoulders, which only added more weight and made it more difficult to walk, but she had a petite stride and wasn't in any hurry, except to get that cat off.
As she pulled her luggage behind her, she made her way to her quarters, a proper set this time, complete with actual rooms and areas for entertaining and relaxing, she let the doors close behind her and tried to encourage the cat to jump down. But Murphy was still a cautious thing and sniffed the air before deciding to remain on Xenara's shoulders.
"Alright you little hell spawn," Xenara teased as she nudged the cat off. "Off. Mommy loves you but you are way too heavy. Besides, you have a lot to explore." Murphy meowed in protest but eventually complied, which gave Xenara a literal ton of relief. To an Elaysian anyway.
Xenara had a feeling that Murphy would pick a very inconvenient spot to claim as his, and she smiled as he started to sniff everything. She picked out a spot for his water and food dishes to the left of the door next to a small cabinet and placed them there and filled them before setting her bag down and let herself crash on the couch. There was a table with a computer terminal, but she didn't feel like doing anything but sleeping at the moment.
Then again, she didn't have much time to sleep as her shift started soon.
"Welcome home, baby," she said as she watched Murphy explore.
