Alex put his strong hands on her shoulders and looked her in the eyes, "First, just take a deep breath and let it out. You're safe here. If anyone tried to harm you or anyone else in here, I assure you that I would rip them apart with my own hands. I've faced Borg, so I'm certainly not afraid of..."
His tone took on a firm sort of resolve and his confidence was undeniable as he began, "If you're worried about Star Fleet, don't. They're going to take care of you, one way or another. The first thing that is going to happen is a light duty, because no matter what needs to happen next, you're going to need a medical profile. You have several options, but you will need to confirm with the CMO about what they themselves are willing to do and what you might need to have a specialist for."
He held up a finger, "First option is the most common. You carry the child to term and become a parent. I myself am a single parent, but as you can see, I have many resources at my disposal. I'm not really at liberty to discuss my entire situation, but my life and connections are unique. We can discuss the fate of the biological father another time, but for now let's discuss you..
He held up teo fingers, "Second option, and I mean no offense, but you could terminate it before it becomes viable. I make no presumptions, nor am I expressing a suggested course of action, I'm simply listing choices here and Star Fleet leaves such decisions in the hands of the mother and her doctor."
He held up three fingers, "You could have the child and then it would be raised by someone else. Adoption or other care options are available, but that's a choice."
He held up four fingers, "As I understand it, it is still early enough that there are a number of delay options that might be considered. Depending on the stage of development, it can be frozen. if not, thre is a stasis facility that can keep it from developing further until you're ready to have it implanted again. Such procedures depend on the individual and I'm not sure how many years might be the maximum that they can retain it in that condition, but that's something you could ask about."
He then shrugged and added, "There are also surrogate options, synthetic options and the CMO might even have a few others that I haven't thought of yet."
Cindy gave Alex a look and with hands on hips again said, "Don't look at me. Sarah made a good mom, but don't even start on that with me. This little force of nature is more than I can handle."
Alex chuckled, "Don't worry, that's something I think that would require a few upgrades, if you know what I mean."
Looking back at Jez, he became more serious again, "I'm serious though. The first thing you need to decide is what YOU want here. We're not going to judge you or decide it for you. I assure you that whatever you decide is what we're going to help you to deal with. You're not in some backwater colony. You have the finest technology in the galaxy at your disposal. I think perhaps I've said enough for now, but trust me when I say that I have certainly dealt with more complicated and difficult decisions of life and death. You should take a moment to think hard and search your own feelings on this. This is not about that man. It isn't about your parents or your co-workers. First and foremost, this is about you. Forget about everything else until you think about THAT. Once you know how you feel about that, then we take things one step at a time."
He paused and made sure she was looking at him, "Jez? Did you hear me? WE will then take it a step at a time. You're part of this crew now. If you don't think that means something, then you have even more to learn than you thought."
Jez had sat back down and Thor came over and laid his big head in her lap. He gave a groan and looked at her with overgrown puppy eyes.
Reyna said to her, "Thor likes you."
