Listening to everything that was going on it reminded her of being second Officer, it was agreat thrill for her and a step in the right direction. For the first time Beno was reminded of the talk she had years prior, being Second Officer to Commander Sothrick, the Baptism of fire that made her step up as First Officer also came to mind.
"As First Officer I will do my best to teach you what it takes to fill my position, like Daniel is teaching me how to fill his. As part of the Command team we represent eachother in the best way possible, this means someone is always watching everything we do in public areas. When in Ten Forward I favor a more casual approach,, Formalities I leave for everything else. There is a time and place to set your rank aside and just be a person, or it will consume you completely."
The greatest tragedy when it comes to rank is some people allow it to consume them completely, the higher they go the worse it gets. People will follow confidence and respect through the worst scenario, rank they will follow but never in the same way. A great leader knows how to utilize strengths, and strengthen what needs to be.
