AT/D02 - Ready Room

Crawford looked as though she was trying to decide what she felt about the situation. Eun Ju didn’t want to push her on anything she had already said her piece there was no reason to continue talking about the situation when she had already mentioned the lessons she had learned. Crawford took a sip of her coffee before she mentioned that egos tended to run high before missions began and there were many at fault. However, lessons had clearly been learned and there was no reason to continue to beat a dead horse.

Ju’s shoulders relaxed a little bit now that the worst was over, at least that was what she thought. Crawford paused for a little bit, and Ju began to fear what exactly was about to come out next. She didn’t know if it would be something else. As close as the Captain was with her ex-Captain she didn’t know if there was anything else that had been disliked about her on the Philly. Ju hadn’t gotten the chance to make a lot of connections there but she still didn’t know if anyone else had issues.

It seemed that Crawford instead wanted to know why she was coming to the Artemis, what was it about the ship that caught Ju’s attention. Eun Ju wasn’t sure if she was trying to find a way to ask if she was there solely for Damian or for other reasons. Ju hoped that the answer she had would suffice because she had actually thought quite a bit about putting in a transfer.

“To be honest, Captain, it was the Christmas party,” Ju admitted. “The entire ship held a sort of commraderie which reminded me a great deal like back home. In Korea, we are very tight knit and our family is important above all others, including yourself. What I liked was, that everyone welcomed me as a stranger and made me feel very welcome. I spent a large amount of time with Lieutenant Calleja once you and Commander Coleman were called away. I really enjoyed my time here and started comparing the culture and feel of the two ships.”

Eun Ju took a breath and let it out. “I went on my first mission for the Philly, which you already know how that went, and I just felt… disconnected. There was the Captain’s side, the Commander’s side, being new officers we were stuck in the tide of waters with no purpose other than just trying to stay alive. After the Away Mission issue, I just felt like.. perhaps this ship was not the home I was looking for and kept remembering the people on your ship. I remembered you, Commander Coleman, the Lieutenant, and others I came across during the party and it just felt.. warm. When the mission on the Philly ended, I thought, I could at least try to transfer.”

“There is also the fact that your ship is impressive, massive, and your Engineering deck is almost bigger than the Philly as a whole. The opportunities to work on Propulsion research and to continue my hopes of making life support systems that much more efficient will be better suited here than over there. The career opportunities were not lost on me either when I looked through the available specs I could find on the PADD database,” she admitted with a soft smile but an excited sparkle filled her eyes as she talked about the Engineering deck and the opportunities that could be afforded here with the Artemis.

“I hope you’ll give me a chance, I really do think I could be a boon to the ship.”
