Ju had spent longer than she meant to psyche herself up in the mirror of her nearly non-existent bathroom. It wasn’t for looks or uniform, it was for the courage to do her job again and not let her past mistakes dictate her first official Artemis mission. Things had changed, a lot had gone down, some she knew, some she didn’t. Hubub on the ship was there was a new Captain for the time being; though she wasn’t sure if it was permanent or temporary. She had liked Captain Crawford and her vibe. She had been completely straightforward with Han but also understanding.
While Eun Ju was dating Commander Coleman she worked very hard not to blur the lines or ask him to blur the lines of professionalism. If he could tell her something she knew that he would. If their conversations erred on the side of forbidden information as soon as he gave her a bit of a shake of his head, she changed the conversation to another topic. Her internal curiosity died a little each time but she was not about to ruin their relationship by putting him in a tight spot. Besides, knowing that they were dating meant that people might come to her to see if she had insider information, which she would prefer not to have, it was easier to keep secrets when she actually didn’t know them.
Over their downtime, Damian and Ju had worked on solidifying their relationship spending a great deal of time together. They were almost always found together when they weren’t on shift or busy. He and Mara had helped her throw an excellent Korean-themed party in the Lounge which people were still talking about. There was nothing like seeing the tough Mara up on stage with others doing Gangnam Style. Definitely a video Ju would not delete soon, the video evidence of her bravery would live on forever.
Ju adjusted the collar on her uniform one more time before letting out a long breath. She wished there was more than a singular pip there, if so, she felt the gap between herself and Damian would be much smaller and people would judge her less for being with him. Ju was not easily bothered by the opinions of others. Had that been the case she wouldn’t have embarked on a relationship cemented in adversity. One day, she would have more pips on her collar, and one day they could stand side by side once people realized she wasn’t with him for his rank but for his personality…. And more.
Leaving her Quarters, Ju headed for the turbolift and headed for the deck where the Briefing room was located. Other officers got onto the lift at different decks, causing Ju to end up against the side of the turbolift until they all filed out. The Briefing room already held a few people as Ju stepped in with some of the others who had ridden with her from the various decks. Ju had not yet met the new Chief Engineer, she hadn’t even met the old one, so she supposed new or not… it didn’t really matter at this point. She could only hope that she would be good enough to make him proud and not think she was a complete idiot.
Inside the room were several people some she knew the faces of, a couple she knew the names of, but none of her comfort-people yet. They would come, she was sure. She made eye contact with Lieutenant Grant giving him a small smile. “Nice to see you again, Lieutenant,” Ju said with a bit of a smile. She also noticed that Aeryn was there as well offering the redhead a smile as well. “Good to see you again as well.” Ju kind of wished she had brought some tea or something to drink, maybe some coffee, with her to give her hands something to do. She was feeling really nervous. Just don’t make an idiot out of yourself this time, Ju, you can do it! Fighting!
