What the hell?
Robin had been a bit surprised as Mara rose and headed for the door. Coleman had stopped her, and the Security chief was responding like she was about ready to cut loose on him. Her hands flexed and her look was intense enough that even the decidedly non-warrior nurse could spot it. And if she could see it then it was likely sending up flares to Coleman, a former Security chief himself and an expert boxer.
Is she really going to start a brawl in the conference room in front of the new Captain? For that matter, does she think she could take Coleman? She's behaving like a gang member, not a Starfleet officer.
Ensign Eun Ju Han foolishly stepped up to the Bandaran and tried to calm her down. Another bad idea. It worked, but barely. Mara was struggling with self-control. For her part Robin felt irritation at the Security chief. She'd felt it before, on the Callisto, but that had been a situation where everyone had been under extreme stress and she'd decided to ignore all of the raw nerves that everyone (including herself) had had. This was a meeting.
Way to make a great first impression, Mara. You're not just embarrassing yourself, you're embarrassing the whole crew. Maybe Starfleet is right about us. Maybe this crew is corrupted. Broken. At the very least we have people who are acting like a bunch of teenagers, not like trained and disciplined officers.
She said nothing, instead watching the new Captain's reaction.
