Miles didn't have long to mull on thoughts of being 'left out' before he noticed the approach of Commander Coleman with another box that was slightly larger than the others. Coleman offered the box to Miles, while giving a thanks and mentioning a 'we' that Miles could indicate meant Coleman and someone else that was not Captain Givens. Which could only mean it was more geared from Captain Crawford before her...exit.
Miles took the box with a thanks. Opening it, it revealed two items. The first being the same Gold Star the others present had received. The other was a solid pip. The emphasis Coleman had given to Miles' rank made much more sense as it was an indication of Miles' promotion to full Lieutenant. And if the other underlying words meant anything, his title of 'Acting' had also been dropped.
He noted the Star had also been promoted to Ensign, and he sent her congratulations to her. Miles did notice how Calleja appeared to believe the meeting was over and got up to take her leave. However, they had not been dismissed, and it became quickly obvious that the meeting was not, in fact, over. There was also a palpable tension due to Calleja's actions, and they lingered in the room, even as Calleja ceased to continue her process of leaving.
It didn't take long for Givens to get things back to focus and start a briefing. A hologram appeared in the middle of the table showing the Hugora Nebula. Miles studied everything displayed. The information they had was, as it always seemed to be, incomplete. Tensions with Cardassia were high after last mission, and the nebula proved to be a spot of concern. Putting two and two together, it looked like the Artemis was going to be heading further exploration. Making sure there wasn't anything suspicious going on in it.
Givens was continuing to explain the briefing when she was interrupted by the doors opening to reveal Cera Morgan. However, it wasn't Morgan that had truly gotten everyone's attention, but rather the person who followed behind her.
Miles had hoped he would see Captain Crawford back on the Artemis, but he definitely did not figure it to be this soon after what they had heard. Regardless of the reason she was back, Miles could already tell this next mission would be interesting.
