Mara was unhappy with her, or perhaps, it wasn’t so much at her but it was that she had stepped in on this situation. However, she had only sought to help her friend if at all possible, Mara was one of the first people that made her feel welcome here outside of Damian and so she had a soft spot in her heart for the Security officer. Perhaps she didn’t know everything about her friend but there was nothing she could do about the decisions she had made up until this point. Mara headed back to her seat and Damian seeming to head back to his own Ju headed back to stand by Miles as she had been before. Everyone was on alert, there was a lot of change here, and a lot of emotions and feelings which were charging up the atmosphere. Ju felt a slight pounding with the charged emotions hitting her psyche, and her right hand massaged her temple for a moment though it offered very little relief.
The Stand-In Captain asked if everyone wanted to sleep on their feelings and brief tomorrow or know what was going on now and sleep on that. Ju preferred to know before hand but then she had very little stake in the decision there were people here with far more pips on their collar than her who would speak much louder. With the consensus in line with her own Ju shifted her attention to the screen once the new Captain sent the picture of a beautiful nebula to the screen. That was the thing about space, it was truly beautiful, there were times she surprised herself for having not gone into Science but honestly she had always enjoyed pushing the envelope with mechanical things instead.
The beautiful nebula was half in Federation and half in Cardassi space which meant it was probably a hot zone. The composition o the Nebula made it hard to keep an eye on the smuggling and other nefarious activities that likely took place in this border area. Ju was jarred out of her soaking of the information when the bell at the door rang. Do people ring the bell here…? she wondered at the oddity of such a thing. Everyone on the ship was likely assigned to it so it surprised her that anyone should feel the need to ring the bell but perhaps there was a civilian or something on board she didn’t know about.
The door opened and Crawford walked in as though she wasn’t about to head out on mission but instead had just come in from some natural adventure. The relief in the room was palpable to the young half-Betazoid, and it eased some of the aching behind her temple where it had been thrumming in time with her heartbeat. Crawford looked shocked to be here. Or perhaps she was shocked that they were all here with a mission briefing and a new red head in the main seat. Ju’s eyes sought out Damian, not because they were dating but instead because she was gauging his reaction so that she could see if this was expected. But, while she was still learning some of his facial features and things but she knew enough to know that he was as shocked at seeing Crawford as the rest of them. Mara seemed excited, shooting out of her seat to check on the Captain almost immediately. Except in moment, Mara entered Attack Protocol. Ju watched as her friend turned on the new-ish Captain.. chair warmer… stand in? and began to accuse her of being a plant or something else because she was just as surprised as the rest of them when Crawford walked through the door.
This time, Ju did not step in, to try to calm her friend, instead she waited for the explanation that was certain to come. maybe all missions are just a mess, Ju thought. My first started with a mutiny and my second started with.. well I’m not sure yet…
